Flora is struggling with joint attention, so in order to help her we have planned and demonstrated a group activity, making slime. For more information about joint attention, see here.
Flora sits with her peers in a semi-circle and at a distance from the adult demonstrating the activity. The adult shows enthusiasm to gain their attention and to act as a role model for the students.
I need:
PVA glue
bowl
spoon
bicarbonate soda
food colouring
contact lenses solution
symbols
1. Aww..Bowl!
2. Clang.. Spoon!!
3. Oooh..Glue!
4. Fssss…Bicarbonate soda!
5. Mmmm.. Food colouring!
6. Aaaah.. Contact lenses solution!
7. Stir and the slime is ready!
In order to achieve the right texture for our slime, the contact lenses solution should contain boric acid in its ingredients and it should be the last ingredient we use. If the slime continues being sticky, add a bit more of the contact lenses solution.
You can use liquid paint instead of food colouring.
You can also add glitter.
We will share more tips and activities in the future, so keep visiting us.
We are looking forward to hearing your views and experiences.
