Flora continues developing her life skills that strengthen her independence. In previous posts we have mentioned the importance for Flora and students with ASC to develop their life skills and have given ideas for activities , such as making their own toast or boiling eggs.
A very useful activity for Flora is to learn putting away the cutlery when she is unloading the dishwasher. Flora started with learning how to do this gradually. First, she learned how to sort spoons and forks. When she established this knowledge, we added knives, teaspoons etc.
As always, the adult’s role is to demonstrate the activity and support Flora to complete it successfully. When Flora is making a mistake, we need to give her time to process it, realise it and then correct it.
